Greetings Parents and Students:
Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year!
I am beyond excited to work with each and every one of you during this upcoming school year. I am honored to take over as your school counselor! Below you will provide you with information regarding my work here at Mullen Public Schools.
Office: My new office is located just off of the library at the High School.
Schedule: I will be working at both the Elementary and High School buildings this year.
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I will begin my days at the High School. Tuesdays and Thursdays I will begin my days at the Elementary. Mondays and Wednesdays I will be at the Elementary for lunch and recess that follows.
Academics: I will be addressing the following areas for students at the High School level. Some topics to discuss may include: discussing college options, answering secondary education questions and concerns, helping with scholarships, overseeing dual credit students, running transcripts, determining graduation progress.
Social/Emotional: I will be accessible for students K-12 and will provide support to our teachers providing SecondStep program in the Elementary. Our school district works closely with the ESU staff to address any further concerns.
College Fair: Grades 9-12 will be attending the College Fair held at the Lariat on September 12th.
Senior Financial Aid Night: Set for September 7th at 5:30 p.m.
Senior Intake: At both the Senior Financial Aid Night and the upcoming Open House, I will be meeting with students and parents to show what I will be sharing with them this year for scholarships and how the process will work. I would also like to schedule an intake with each one to see what the Seniors’ plans are currently.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. I look forward to working with each of you this coming year! Here’s to a GREAT 2022-2023 school year.
-Ms. Kara
